mightymango is a brand new company developing powerful ICT tools for education set up by Simon and Philippa Barrett, the founders of BlackCat Educational Software.

Having spent twelve years as a primary school teacher, ICT advisory teacher and deputy-head teacher, Simon used his experiences to produce a range of software tools for pupils and while running BlackCat Educational Software was author of titles such as Write Away!, Information Workshop and Pick a Picture. After taking a couple of years away from the educational software world, he has recently returned with mightymango, to the role he enjoys most: producing powerful and effective educational tools for pupils.

Simon has always been interested in this area of educational software and has definite views as to what is required in this type of software. ‘I’ve always felt strongly that we need to make powerful tools available to young people so that their education can be extended and enhanced in a way that would not have been possible without the introduction of IT. At the same time, however, these tools should be appropriate to the classroom and the pupils rather than being cut-down versions of business programs.’
